When it comes to baby gifts, most people prefer to visit a gift store and pick up things like clothes, diapers, bottles, toys, etc. Though these things are useful for babies, it would be a great idea to give a gift that is unique. One such unique idea would be to give some homemade gifts to the baby.
Although making baby gifts at home is pretty time-consuming, you save a lot of money, and also get the satisfaction of making something that is appreciated by all. The parents of the little one will also appreciate your effort you have taken to make them.
So, if you want to take something different for your best friend's baby shower, here are some ideas that you can try at home.

Knitted Clothes

If you are good at knitting, sewing, and quilting, there are a variety of clothes and other things that you can make for the baby.
You can make little clothes, sweaters, quilts, booties, bibs, blankets, etc. for the little one. Choose good quality cloth, wool, and other things that you require to make them from the local store. You can also make the things using a single color as the theme.
If the baby is a boy, you can use the color blue and if the baby is a girl, make these things in pink. However, there is actually no compulsion to stick to these colors. Once you have made these things, pack them in a gift basket, and present it to the expecting mother.

Diaper Cake

Diapers are something that parents are going to keep running out of, once the baby is born.
Hence, it is a really good idea to get a diaper cake for the little baby. If you do not know how to make a diaper cake, there are various Internet sites that give instructions on how to make them.
You can choose to make a two tiered as well as three tired cake. Once you are done making it, the next step would be to decorate it. You can attach things like baby shampoos, lotions, powders, soaps, etc. to the diaper cake with the help of cellophane.
To complete the look of the diaper cake, place a cute little soft toy like a teddy bear, puppy, etc. on the top of the diaper cake. This would truly be one of the easiest gift to make.

Clothes Bouquet

A clothes bouquet is one unique gift you can make, which will be appreciated and loved by the parents. The things that you would need to make this are baby hats, towels, socks, onesies, bibs, etc. You will need a vase or a container to keep these things together.
To start with, take dowel rods and cut them into 12 inch sizes. When you do this, roll all the clothes that you have collected. The bigger clothes will act as large flowers, while small clothes like socks, bibs, etc. can be shaped into buds.
Once the clothes are rolled, secure them with rubber bands either at the bottom or at the center. Then, from the bottom of the roll, pull the layers of cloth so that it looks like petals of a flower from the top. Then, with another rubber band, attach the dowel rod to the rolled clothes as if they are the stems of flowers.
Take the container or vase that you have selected, and prepare the base by placing some more clothes, toys, etc. Once this is done, place the cloth flowers in it. You can attach artificial flowers and leaves with it to make the bouquet complete.

Homemade Baby Book

A baby book is a great way of securing the memories of the little one. With a variety of baby books available in the market, making one for the parents will be a special gift. Purchase a scrapbook from the local store which has several colorful pages.
Personalize each page by allotting them with a significant events like first picture of the baby, hospital band, first smile, etc. You can decorate the pages with icons, stickers, etc. This will definitely be a baby gift that would be loved by the parents.
Apart from these, you can also think some other innovative ideas with your creativity. Though you may find making baby gifts at home a little difficult, the end result will be surely worth all the effort.
